Those readers who have followed the Strongbow Saga’s history will know that beginning in 2010, my wife and I began taking back, and republishing, the first three books of the series from the original publisher, HarperCollins. During 2012 we formed our own small publishing company, Northman Books Inc., and have been working to expand the availability of the existing books, as well as continuing the series (and I’ll post a brief update on the progress of book 4 soon).
Amazon continues to be the primary distributor of the series, in both e-book and print formats, in the United States and overseas. However, e-book editions are now also available through both Barnes & Noble and Kobo. For now, they are not available directly through Apple, because of Apple’s polices: currently the only way to upload e-book content to Apple for publication is by using an Apple Mac computer, and I refuse to let that policy coerce me into buying one. If you want to read the Strongbow Saga on your Apple IPad or IPhone, use the free Kindle app for those devices, and buy the books from Amazon.
Although its launch has been delayed and is behind schedule, soon a Northman Books website and store will be launched, from which autographed, personalized copies of the print editions–both current Northman Books paperbacks, and original HarperCollins first editions–will be available for purchase, as well as some merchandise related to the series. Watch this site for the opening announcement.
Hi. I have enjoyed reading all the three Viking (Strongbow series) .
I am now getting impatient and every now and then visit your home page in e hope of knowing when we can expect the next instalment in the Strongbow saga….!!
I am sure there are many others like me equally impatient….
Pls put an end to the agony of the fans and release the book!!!
Cheers
I’ve just reread all of the Strongbow series so my mind is fresh for the new book.
Beautiful storytelling. I write 5 star reviews of your works whenever possible and turn them on to my friends. One question, will the next book be the end of Halfdan’s story?
Now, I don’t mean to be rude to such a great storyteller, but I would like to say that I would much rather know you are busy writing your book than posting so much personal information on your website. We are not cousins and my real interest is in your books, not a Viking stew, or moves to another area, or the health of your sheep. (poor things).
Thanks, Kate–reviews are very, very helpful to authors, in this new world of more decentralized publishing. To a large extent, they are what sell books now.
Book 4, The Long Hunt, will not be the end of Halfdan’s story. There will be five books in the Strongbow Saga, which follows Halfdan’s life up to the the final resolution of his quest to avenge Harald’s death.
I don’t know if I’ll get to it–hopefully I will–but I have a second series in mind that will pick up Halfdan’s story again, about ten years after the end of the Strongbow Saga. There were a lot of dramatic historical events that occurred in the Viking world during that period, some of which involved Hastein, Ragnar, Ivar the Bonelsss, and Bjorn Ironsides, and I’d like to see how Halfdan’s fate gets woven into those historical events.
And thanks for your opinion about my personal posts. It’s really not possible to regularly make substantive posts directly about book 4’s story and progress (although I will make one soon)–there’s only so much I can say without giving away too much of the story. So I’m left with the choice of having a website that’s rarely updated with any new content, or else posting about other matters, too.
Will Northman Books publish only your books or will you publish other authors as well? I get a catalog from “Rue Morgue” and they publish old books that the copyright has run out on. Maybe you could do that
At this time we have no plans to publish any books other than mine. It’s a lot of work, and I’m too slow as it is getting my books out.
