I am very sorry to have to announce that I have failed yet again to meet a target completion deadline for book 5. This book has, from its earliest beginnings, been much more of a struggle for me than the first four books. I had hoped that I was now far enough along that I could push through to completion by March (after failing to meet my previous December goal), but the writing just isn’t flowing that smoothly.
I am continuing to work on it, and will get it out this year, but at this point I am not going to state a new date until I’m sure I can achieve it. I am very, very sorry–I know so many of you have been waiting a very long time for more of Halfdan’s story.
I am fairly certain by this point, by the way, that the title will be Into the Wildlands (although perhaps it should be The Long Wait).
Keep the book I’m tired of waiting . Good luck god bless.
I remember being in middle school waiting for the third, my mom even emailed you to see what was taking so long and you responded saying you were having trouble finding a publisher. Now 10 years later I’ve been waiting on the edge of my seat for the fifth for years. The whole situations hilarious. But you haven’t failed to deliver a great book yet. Looking forward to it!
Thanks. I know I’ve been horribly slow on this one, but it is coming.
At this point, it’s a game. Who’s going to finish their book first? George RR martin with Winds of Winter, or Judson Roberts with his fifth book. Haha.
Well there’s a challenge for me: Beat George RR Martin. 🙂
Hi Judson, just finished reading the first four again (I think this is the third full read-through). Any updates on Book Five?
We’re in harvest season now, so time to write is harder to squeeze in, but I’m still chipping away at it.
Big, big fan. Trying to get my wife to read the saga I am late here but thank you for updating us!! It will be so worth the waiting for us to be able to finally enjoy reading the book. Pls do care for you, we don’t want you be mentally and physically overwhelmed. Thank you again
The wait will be worth it! I have been a fan since I was in middle school. I loved Halfdan’s story so much I passed the book on to my younger brother who also loved it. It eventually spread to other books and reading became a bonding experience for us. Now as adults we periodically check in and update each other when you post. You were the talk of my 29th birthday dinner for the two of us. Thank you for your story and giving us an enduring love of reading!
Thank you very much! I hope the talk about wasn’t too much “When is this book ever going to be finished!” It would be deserved. We’ve been very busy here on the farm getting the garden fully planted, but that’s done now, which means I’ll have some time to get back to working on book 5, before the harvest season begins in earnest in late August.
